Dear Friends & Family,
AMAZING. In the days leading up to Superior 100, the day (plus) of the race, and the days after AMAZING is almost all I could think of. Usually I write a race report for big races – but this year I’m just not sure how I possibly could sum everything up into a race report. So much happened in my personal life in the weeks leading up to the race – during the race – and after the race - that I just don’t think it would be fair to the race or the rest of life to even try to share it.
So, what I really want to say is THANK YOU, you all are AMAZING. Each of us is only as strong as ourselves - but when we have a team of people who care about us - who rally behind us - who believe in us.... well Fuck.... AMAZING things are possible.

So that being said- rather than a race report – here are a few stats:
76 – The number of photos that I got sent (Yes that’s an average of 1.65 photos per hat)
This is because my crew and I all took a hat as we put in the miles too ☺ 46 hats went out!
36 – The number of you who texted me in the 48 hours surrounding the race.
19 – The number of Emails I received from you all in the 48 hours surrounding the race.
$5,165 – The dollar amount that I am donating to the Open Space Institute
$464.25 – The dollar amount that some of you donated to the Open Space Institute (despite the fact that I told you multiple times you didn’t have to!)
32 – The number of hours that my crew stayed up to get me to the finish line
3 – The number of people dedicated to me it took to get me to the finish.
4,167 - Miles my crew flew to the race.
52.1 – The number of miles my pacer ran with me despite the fact that she had a stress fracture in her right foot.
285 – The number of volunteers that it took for Superior Fall Races to be a success this year.
103.3 – Miles run / hiked
21,000 – Number of feet climbed
21,000 – Number of feet descended
26:52 – Amount of time spend on the course
198,337 – Number of steps my Fitbit said I took (Out of curiosity this equals what it calculated as 102.3 miles. Surprising how accurate it is seeing as it has no GPS)
3 – Times I stopped on top of a mountain and danced.
7 – Times I stopped and picked wildflowers to put in my hat.
Too many to count – Times I cursed, cried, yelled in frustration….etc
Thank you – You all are AMAZING and made me feel so much love and appreciation.
Sincerely & with so much AMAZING love,
Dylan aka Papa WhippAss
