Hello Generous Benefactor,
My name is Maggie Guterl. I am 34 years old and I live in Pennsylvania. Running is my passion. I ran my first marathon in November 2009. I fell in love with the sport. In 2011, I attempted my first ultra. It was a 24 hour race. (For those of you not familiar with the concept, the goal is to run as many miles as you possibly can in 24 hours. Whether you change clothes, rest, or walk is up to you.) I struggled with nausea and vomiting for most of the race and fell short of my 100 mile goal by less than 3 miles. But I came back the next year and ran 110 miles. I knew deep down though, that I could run more.
On November 9th, 2014, I proved that sentiment true. I ran 142 miles in 24 hours and earned myself the number 3 spot on the USA National 24 Hour Team. The championships will be held on April 11th to the 12th, 2015 in Turin, Italy.
Here is where I need your help though. Ultrarunning hasn't quite reached the masses. This isn't exactly the Olympics but it's the closest thing we have to that in the sport. Unfortunately, getting yourself to and from Italy and other expenses are entirely up to you the individual athlete, which is the main reason some athletes who are selected choose not to go. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many supportive family members and friends who have expressed a willingness to help financially. So that's what this page is for. Any amount is helpful and any amount is immensely appreciated.
I'm putting every ounce of my energy and soul into training for the World Championships in April. Many of you believed in me even when I doubted my own abilities. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. Without YOU this would not be possible! I WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN IN APRIL. U-S-A!
Any donation is welcome. If you donate $30 (plus $5 shipping) I will send you a custom one of a kind hand drawn hat, or if you would prefer you can donate any amount you wish without a hat.
